DAVIS Norman Noeman P. Davis, owner of the well-known Lindon stud (Dorset Horn), Gnowangerup, was a well liked and energetic resident of that district, and has done much for its advancement. He is a native of South Australia and was educated at Prince Alfred College. ComIng to Western Australia 41 years ago, he entered the State Forestry Department as a cadet, the late Mr. Richardson then being acting-Conservator. Mr. Davis then entered the employment of Hawker's nurseries at Mullalyup, next taking up the management of a farm at Tammin, on the Goldfields line. He selected land 50 miles east of Gnowangerup. now known as Borden, 35 years ago, being later joined by his brother, Mr. Edgar Davis.

Portion of this holding is embodied in Lindon estate, which is 3 and a half miles south-west of the townsite, and comprises 3,000 acres. It is devoted to mixed farming and the conduct of the well-known and successful Dorset Horn stud, with a long list of show successes to its credit. Mr. Davis also owns a fine property at Borden of 2.000 acres, known as Padiclip, and also a clover property at Kojonup named Hollywood. He is a prominent breeder of fat lambs, and sends blg drafts for export to the Albany freezing works. These are an excellent type, comparable to anything in the world. Mr. Davis is also a large wheat and oats grower, and has extensive knowledge of this production branch which is freely availed of by fellow settlers. He has also played a big part in public life, being a former chairman of the Road board and is sitting member today; and chair of the local Co-op company and Director of W.A. farmers local sport has always had his keen support.
